Self Portraits- Exploring Composition and Framing
I believe the first one came out successful, though I may go back and fix the strong shadow by the eye. The second one was a bit more difficult. I'll have to go back and fix the nose along with do some more shading.
These are looking really good, Jamie. The top one of your eyes is a really great composition- the mood could be a number of things- so suspicious, curious, nervous, judgy- you have focused our attention really effectively on something immediately off the page. It's really engaging. I really like the strong shadow- I think it's progress for you in terms of your exploration of value. It gives the piece a strong sense of depth. The second one- I agree, you could work on the nose and on developing more values in your face. I'm interested in your composition on this one- you appear to be looking up at the viewer- really push those values to amp up that perspective. Maybe throw a strong light source on yourself- exaggerate it. Keep up the good work, Jamie.
