Feet- Weird Medium

Image
Doing these in lipstick was a challenge but it was quite fun. My only complaint is that I should have switched the two on the bottom.

In the first one I used mascara. In the second, I used black eyeshadow. I feel the first one is successful due to the shadows but the head is too far to one side. The second one is successful in that the body and the head are better proportioned but some of the shadows feel too square.

I feel the ketchup one is more successful than the mustard one. The proportions seem better, but I think I put the eyes too high.

Breaking Habits- Hands

Image
We had to draw five hands interacting in some way, without using out using our usual drawing habits. I feel this piece is successful in that I focused on not using my usual long, clean lines, and I also used cross-hatching to shade rather than a usual blending. However, I did seem to have an issue with spacing and drawing some hands too big, with one hand being too small.

We had to draw full figures while not using our normal drawing habits. I usually take a long time to measure, and have smooth clean lines on most of my drawings. However, with these two I decided to do speedy gestural drawings with choppy, or swirly lines. Simply put, I don't like either, the proportions seem to be off, and the faces seem flat.

Self Portraits- Breaking Habits

This week we had to abandon our usual drawing habits, so I had to stop using clean, smooth, precise lines, and instead I tried to use short, choppy lines. I think the second one is more successful due to proportions, and cross-hatching the shadows.

Balancing Act

Wasn't very sure how to make it really interesting. Probably need to go back and fix the shadows too.

Full Figure- Composition and Framing

I'm still working on the first drawing. I want to have her sitting on a cliff, leaning against a tree, and looking out at some mountains. For the second work, I had originally planned to have it smaller, but since I put her to the far left, I could have it be that she's looking out at a city scape from her bedroom window.

Self Portraits- Exploring Composition and Framing

I believe the first one came out successful, though I may go back and fix the strong shadow by the eye. The second one was a bit more difficult. I'll have to go back and fix the nose along with do some more shading.

I feel that I need to incorporate more shadows and work more on the faces.

In the first one, I didn't outline where the shadows would be. In the second one, I did, and I think it made the piece more successful.
